At Risk Youth Definition: All youth are at risk. For each, the degree of at -risk -ness is determined by the degree and consistency the individual has been and continues to be nurtured.
COMPETENCIES
The competencies the programme will address are:
Health: Promote and define good health status and evidence of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors that will assure future well-being (for example: exercise and good nutrition).
Personal/Social: Practice interpersonal skills (an ability to understand emotions and practice self-discipline), interpersonal skills (such as working with others, developing and sustaining friendships through cooperation, empathy, and negotiation), judgment skills, and a coping system.
Knowledge, Reasoning, and Creativity: Practice oral and written communication skills, problem solving skills and demonstrate an ability to learn.
Vocational: A broad understanding and awareness of life options and the steps to take in making choices.
Citizenship: Promote the desire to be ethical and to be involved in efforts that contribute to the broader good of the community.
